Special
Motorcycle Parking!
Riding a motorcycle
to the event? You get to park right in the event area! Go in
Gate 2 off Hwy 55! This
will create a “show within the show!” We feel that motorcyclists
should park closest, so this is your privilege! Join thousands
of others as we view both the latest models and oldest daily
riders in our “parking lot show!”
Vintage Motorcycle Racing to make its debut in 2008!
The Badger Racing Association will present the
first annual Buzz Simmons Memorial Races on Friday, August 15th,
at 7:30 PM at the 1/3 mile dirt track oval at the show grounds!
This event, co-sponsored by S-K Service from Hatley, Wisconsin
will feature 6 different classes and multiple heats, along with
finals. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded. Anyone can
enter! For details, contact Bill or Steve Kasten, race
directors, at 715-446-2225. Race admission will be $12, and pit
passes will be available for $20 starting on Friday at noon! For
those familiar with the racing at Davenport, Iowa, this event
will be similar! Rain date for the races will be Saturday,
August 16th at 7:30 PM.
Show Bikes and
Judging:
Building #10 on the
grounds of the fair will be used as the building for show bikes.
These are the bikes that will be voted on by the patrons of the
event for this year’s people’s choice awards and also judged for
concours awards. There
will be first through fourth place awards in both the judging
and voting, and in five different categories: Japanese,
European, British, American, and Vintage Customs. Judging will
take place throughout the weekend. If you remove your bike from
the display, you risk not being judged or limiting your chance
to receive votes! Awards will be presented at 1PM on Sunday. You
must be present to claim your trophies on Sunday. The ceremony
for awards and prizes at the end of the show will last about 1
hour.

-
Featured speakers - Pete Dujanovich and John Eng
TOPIC: The One Hour Bike Teardown!!!YOU
DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!! Join our two favorite VJEMC
humorists and bike repair/restoration experts in this
fun-filled and informative session. If you seen "Click and
Clack" from the automobile world, Pete and John are the
"Click and Clack" of the motorcycling arena! During this
session, our tech gurus will attempt to tear down an entire
bike in approximately an hour, telling you what parts to
save, what parts to restore, and what parts to fling across
the room into the trash bin! Watch out for flying parts in
this session, as well as flying insults, barbs, and anything
else that might be entertaining! Not to be forgotten is how
these guys will explain what some of the various parts of a
motorcycle are and what they do, which will help all
attendees fix many of their own tech issues. Questions are
encouraged, and don't be too surprised if the boys throw a
wrench at you and ask you to jump in! This highly
interactive session will be loads of fun for everyone, with
an emphasis on the FUN-damentals of motorcycle repair and
restoration! And don't worry......Pete and John know this is
a family event, so kids are welcome and encouraged to
attend! The VJEMC encourages young motorcycling enthusiasts
to be a part of the club!

answer session with the idea of helping vintage enthusiasts
who are having problems getting their bikes running. George

is certain to entertain the crowd.

earth, arduous river crossings, and unusual people he

Featured speaker - VJEMC
Staff TOPIC: How to grade and evaluate a vintage motorcycle
Members of the VJEMC staff will put on a clinic
about how to properly grade a motorcycle using examples from
the IVMS vintage motorcycle show as examples. This will help
enthusiasts determine how judges often evaluate bikes at
shows, as well as help people put an appropriate value on
bikes for insurance purposes. If you are buying a vintage
motorcycle, let our staff help you determine what to look
for to see if the bike you are buying is actually what it is
advertised to be! If you are restoring a vintage motorcycle,
learn how to take good care of your bike so the condition
stays high and the bike does not deteriorate.
Bike Corral:
The bike corral
will be right at the entrance of the show again
this year. Any age motorcycle may be put into the corral
for sale. The motorcycle MUST BE RUNNING! The cost is $6
per bike preregistered, or $10

to put a bike in the corral. Additional spectator fees will also
be charged.

up until ride time, or before the ride by stopping at the
Christian Motorcyclist’s booth in the vendor area. A donation of
$10 per rider is charged, or $15 if riding two-up. All riders
will receive a free meal upon return to the IVMS show grounds!
All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome on the ride,
with an emphasis on bikes 15 years old and older!

A huge line of
concessions will be available, which will be served by the Green
Bay area Yamaha Star Chapter. Brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, beer,
soda, chips, water, breakfast items, nachos, and more will be
available throughout the weekend at reasonable prices so as to
make this an affordable event for families.

The VJEMC board has had ongoing discussions about
producing a calendar for members that can also be sold at our
events to raise funds for the club. To this extent, we are
putting some plans in motion to help garner photos for our
calendar at the International Vintage Motorcycle Show and Swap
Meet in Seymour, Wisconsin on August 15-17. If you would like
your favorite bike or your favorite woman in the calendar (or if
you are a woman who would like to be photographed with a bike
and possibly be included in our calendar), here is what we are
planning:
-
Vintage
motorcycles 1993 and older are eligible for the photo shoot.
The bikes should be washed, clean, and in condition 1, 2, or
3. No rat bikes, dirty bikes, radical customs, etc….We
basically want nice stock bikes.
-
Bikes
must be entered in the IVMS show to qualify, so we know you
are serious about having your bike included and will have it
present when promised.
-
Unlike
what many of you may be thinking, our “vintage biker babes”
calendar is not going to be an exercise in exposure. We are
looking for women who are tastefully dressed in biker
clothing, be it leathers, jackets, jeans, boots, vintage tee
shirts, caps, etc….As a matter of fact, dressing in vintage
biker clothing is a plus! We hope to feature women of all
ages who are interested in motorcycling.
-
These
women will be “delicately” placed on or next to the
motorcycle photographed for the calendar. Of course, we are
looking for a variety of brands. We prefer not to repeat a
marque more than once in the calendar, so if you have a nice
Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Triumph, BSA, Norton, AJS,
Vincent, Bridgestone, etc……bring it out and have it
featured!!!
-
We will
be advertising the event throughout Friday and early
Saturday over the public address system on the grounds as
well. The women who are chosen, as well as the owners of the
bikes who are chosen, will receive free copies of the
calendar for their personal use when it is produced.
-
The photo
shoot will be taking place on Saturday afternoon, August 16,
so plan to be available for a few hours between noon and 5
PM.
